《MOTHER》

Taiwan | 3 min 39 sec | 2014 | No dialogue
A film by Wu-Ching Chang

SYNOPSIS

“As a child, I tore apart inconsiderately a ball mother made for me. This memory, like a deep needle, lies heavily in my heart.” The director examines her own childhood experience.
Via rumination and transformation, she expresses what she feels in animation. After challenging the transference and deconstruction of power, motherhood has always been like a quiet, flowing, stretched stream, injecting life and affection from the unseen end.

Based on this past memory, Chang’s touching animation presents the shifting power dynamic between mother and daughter. Her symbology-filled animation is an attempt to find solace and rectify her regretful actions.
